Booking and records

  • Choose a vet clinic that treats your pet's species
  • Confirm the appointment date and time
  • Gather your pet's vaccination records
  • List current medications and supplements
  • Write down symptoms and when they started

The week before

  • Note any changes in appetite, thirst, or bathroom habits
  • Weigh your pet at home if possible
  • Film unusual behavior such as limping or coughing
  • Prepare a list of questions for the vet
  • Ask whether fasting is required before the visit Often 8-12 hours for blood work or sedation.

The day before

  • Trim your pet's nails if needed
  • Pack your pet's favorite treats for positive reinforcement
  • Charge your phone to record notes or symptoms
  • Confirm accepted payment methods and pet insurance coverage
  • Collect a stool or urine sample if requested by the clinic

Day of the visit

  • Feed your pet according to fasting instructions
  • Bring a secure carrier or a leash and harness
  • Pack a small water bowl for the trip
  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early for paperwork
  • Keep your pet calm with a blanket or favorite toy
